Founded through the merger of Air Austria and Austrian Airways on September 30, 1957, Austrian Airlines went for it s first flight on March 18, 1958 when a Vickers Viscount 779 took off from Vienna for London. However, Austrian Airlines started its transatlantic services in the year 1969 when it flew to New York from Vienna .
